friday favorites

My absolute favorite thing of this week? my fiance being home! he's been in phoenix all week and paisley pup and I have missed him!

Here are some other favorites, in no particular order.

Jeni's goat cheese with red cherries ice cream. Heaven on a spoon. If you've never tried Jeni's, I highly recommend it! A friend/co-worker and I went yesterday and it was absolutely amazing. I am also contemplating buying this. Though mine will probably not compare!
On a side note: Why have I seemed to discover lots of new, delicious foods locally a mere 3 months from our wedding??

I also discovered cucumber water this week. Delicious. More water, less ice cream...

Lastly. Lilly Pulitzer's fall line. I'm a little in love with this pattern...

Happy Friday!

wedding wednesday... errr, thursday

I'm a day late. Not suprising with the week I have had thus far! I love my job with all of my heart but it has taken all of my energy this week. Last night I cam home, took a half hour break, and then worked until almost 10. Sheesh! So worth it, though. :)

Back to the topic at hand... Wedding Wednesday (Thursday). CSB and I received our first wedding gift today! And I opened it. And then considered etiquette. Am I supposed to do this??

P.S. How cute is this?? {source}

candle light.

In the past few years I've developed a slight addiction to candles. Not just any candles, though, specifically, Tyler candles. To me friends in real life, this comes as no suprise. I've even gotten a few of my Nashville friends addicted, too. They are a-mazing. My grandmother gave me one for Christmas a few years ago and since then my mom and I have both been hooked!

Seriously, they are amazing. They are very fragrant and there are a wide array of scents from which to choose. My favorite scents, you ask? Fleur de Lis, Tyler, and Pineapple Crush are my top three. Limelight, Dolce Vita, and Homecoming (holiday/Christmas season) are definitely up there on the list, too.

I have also recently discovered Voluspa candles (I picked mine up at Anthropologie after inquiring about the amazing smell in the store. Their marketing tactics are working!). I got the Baltic Amber scent. It is different from scents I usually go for but it's such a nice change. I have been burning it for about 30 minutes downstairs... I just ran upstairs to get something and was pleasantly suprised to be able to smell it there, too.

I just wanted to share. Random Monday evening post, I know!

food truck phenomenon

There seems to have been an explosion of food trucks here in Nashville in the last few months. Maybe I just wasn't paying attention before now; suddenly they are all the rage. Tacos? Yep. Hot dogs? Yes ma'am! Cupcakes? You can get those, too.

My only personal food truck experience thus far has been with The Grilled Cheeserie. Oh. my. goodness. Guilty confession: I've actually indulged twice in the last week. On Sunday I just so happened to scan my facebook feed and low and behold- they were less than a mile from our townhouse. Tonight we spotted it on our way to yoga, and indulged once again. If you are in the Nashville area I highly recommend checking it out!

That is all for this Thursday evening, my friends! I just wanted to share. :) If you have any great food truck have-to-tries please make suggestions!

wedding wednesday

Happy, happy hump day! Whew!! I am certainly glad tomorrow is Thursday/Friday. Thursday in that, well, it is Thursday. Friday in that it is our last day of having kids at work. I love our kids with my whole heart; however, I love kidless-Fridays and the productivity that (usually) accompanies. So, tomorrow is my Thursday/Friday.

Back to Wedding Wednesday...

I am currently dress obsessed. Showers and parties and dinners, oh my! There are so many cute options!

Not happy wedding/marriage talk: In preparation for all things that go along with being married, CSB and I talked in depth finances tonight. And we he made a budget spreadsheet. Talk about wanting to cry. I loathe talking money. Loathe, loathe, loathe. But, it has to happen and I truly want to start our marriage off on the right foot financially. Still, I loathe.

AND they are off!

Our Save the Dates are finally off (well, minus a small handful awaiting to be dropped in the mail tomorrow morning)! Only about 2 months later than planned, but they are out nonetheless. I realize how incredibly late I am with getting them out, in case you just did the math yourself. I refuse to stress about it, though. I will learn from it and get my invitations going a LOT sooner.

Though I can't quite reveal them yet, as they aren't all to their proper owners... I will share the stamps with which I am currently obsessed.

Love. And they are forever stamps. I will most likely be stocking up on these babies for all of the thank you notes I will be sending in the next few months.

Also, the KS gods must have heard my cries on Monday because I arrived home to a box on my front door step! My wedding shoes are officially in my possession. :)

I have a to do list a million miles long between work and wedding. I am going to get back to it!
Happy Tuesday. :)

popsicles, plantations, and progress.

I hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend! I'm exhausted (per usual as of late) but it's been a great few days.

My mom came into town on Wednesday and I have absolutely enjoyed every minute of her visit. we hosted a quaint little jewelry party on thursday and enjoyed getting together with both old friends and new. Friday I declared as "bring your mom to work day". We have been preparing for our annual 5K fundraiser at work and needed a few extra hands. My mother is one of the hardest working, giving, most compassionate people I know and therefor willing to help out.

On Friday night CSB, mom, and I tried out a new(ish) restaurant in Franklin we have been talking about checking out for some time. It was delicious! The BBQ shrimp and grits + blue cheese was my choice of entree and did not disappoint. I absolutely love the shops in downtown Franklin but everything was closed after we finished dinner. It's on my mom and mine's list for her next trip.

As our alarms were set for 4:15 Saturday morning. Yep. CSB, mom, and I were all up bright and early for the second annual Race Across the Spectrum, a 5K benefiting The Brown Center for Autism. This is my first year participating in the event and I truly enjoyed it! It was also a reminded of what wonderful people and parents with which I work. After an early and full morning, we rewarded ourselves with a yummy breakfast. CSB proceeded to head home and crash and I mom and I embark on wedding errands.

First stop: Starbucks! Then Belle Meade Plantation to do another walk through. Last stop: Arzelles to try on my dress with mom. Loooooooove it. We also picked up my earrings and veil (!!!). Afterwards we decided to try out Las Paletas popsicles in 12 south. Delicious! Mom went with a strawberry cream and I tried the Mexican caramel- both were yummy!

The rest of the weekend has been pretty low key (minus a high speed  chase/crash right in front of the townhouse last night and over 10 emergency vehicles + sirens hanging out for hours....). My mom left today and headed home. Bless her heart- her 2.5 hour drive turned into almost a 5 hour drive due to road construction and wrecks! I am sure she's glad to finally be home.

Hope everyone's weekend was wonderful!

shoes.

...Wedding shoes, for that matter. I purchased them over the weekend and cannot wait for them to get here! After mulling and debating and mulling some more, I made a decision and order these babies:

It was a close race between a few other pairs:

These were a really close runner up. They looked great on and I was obsessed with the pearls. However, I didn't feel as if they were as "wear-again" as I wanted. Also, my chosen pair was on major clearance!

I also loved these. They are actually a bit similar to the bridesmaid shoes I picked.

Since I'm talking about shoes, I will share my sweet bridesmaids' shoes, too! I went back and forth on making everyone wear matching or to let everyone choose... And after finding these (again, on sale!) I went for it.

(This is an image one of my bridesmaids send as I can't find a quality image online!)

Now, if only kate spade actually mails my shoes to me. It is certainly another story for another day but I had some major issues with ordering! I certainly didn't expect it from a very reputable company but have been impressed thus far with the measures taken to resolve it (though it's not yet completely resolved!!).

obsessions as of late.

Long time no blog, I know. Instead of provide the multiple excuses of which are all legitimate (My computer is slow, work has been crazy, I was sick for almost 2 weeks, we had weekend company... The list goes on and on.) I'll just pick back up and act like it never happened.

A few weeks ago, at the prompting of my brother, I began watching the series Friday Night Lights on Netflix. Yep, I am well aware it's been on the air for years and I'm jumping on the bandwagon a little late. However, I love it. I've watched almost all of the episodes available in a short amount of time. And was very excited it's currently on the air; only to realize it's the last season. Bummer!

I've also become (even more) obsessed with earrings in the last few weeks. Random, I know. I used to be an almost exclusively pearls girl but have branched out over the last couple years. I got these a few weeks ago from Stella and Dot and wear them all. the. time.

I also picked up some cute ones at Target last week!

In the food category I've been obsessed with my grandmother's pimento cheese. I've made two batches in two weeks. Oops. It's ridiculously good and easy to make!

Hope everyone had a great weekend!
